About Perry Greene
Perry Clarke Greene is the President of Taylor Commercial, Inc., one of the largest siding contractors in the United States. His company operates across the Southeastern region, serving major markets with large-scale construction and renovation projects. Taylor Commercial has completed over 25 renovations of low-income housing and condominium communities.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Perry Greene spent his earliest years in Athens, where his father served as a Church of Christ campus minister. The family moved often, from Memphis to Escondido, California, then to Gainesville, Florida, and finally to Riverdale, Georgia, by the time Perry was in eighth grade.
While his surroundings shifted, Perry’s mindset didn’t. Even as a child, he was motivated by a desire to rise above the challenges of growing up in difficult circumstances. That ambition soon fueled an early dive into work, responsibility, and discipline.
Nurturing the Seeds of Entrepreneurship
By age 9, Perry was already cutting lawns and collecting cans for cash. At 12, he helped his family deliver 500 newspapers every morning before school. For the driven young man, these tasks weren’t chores‒they were his path to earning money for clothes and sports equipment.
When most teens were just beginning to think about jobs, Perry was already working under the leadership of Truett Cathy, helping open the first Chick-fil-A Dwarf House in Riverdale and Jonesboro at age 15.
Like all children, Perry received his share of discipline. But while other kids sat in time-out, Perry was studying how to build wealth. When grounded, he was handed books on rental properties or sales tactics, fueling his later desire for personal growth, sales mastery, and financial independence.
A New Direction
A talented baseball player, Perry Greene earned All-State and All-Region honors at Riverdale High School. He then took an unusual detour, diving into two years of accounting classes.
After high school, he played college ball at Southern Union Junior College. But the pro dream dimmed, and a stronger one emerged: attending the University of Georgia. Without the funds to enroll, Perry joined the Navy Reserve, which sent him to Hawaii and Thailand during his service.
Perry eventually earned a scholarship to Harding University before transferring to UGA in 1993, graduating in 1996 with a degree in Accounting. That same year, he passed the CPA exam and joined Ernst & Young.
Diving Into Sales
Perry married Marjorie Taylor while in college in 1995. His career subsequently took a sharp turn in 1998 when he joined Taylor Construction, the family business owned by his father-in-law. He quickly rose from salesperson to top salesperson to general manager in just six months.
In 1999, he helped sell that business and moved to its sister company, Taylor Commercial, Inc., which focused on siding installations for apartment developments. With Perry at the helm, revenue soared from $600,000 to over $45 million annually.
Perry learned not just from experience but also from the wisdom he drew from seasoned salespeople and classic sales literature. The company expanded into ten states and completed over 25 renovation projects in low-income and condo housing communities, as well as siding on hundreds of apartment complexes.
From Growth to Recognition
Taylor Commercial became one of the largest siding contractors in the Southeastern U.S. Perry led the charge as the company earned numerous industry accolades.
Awards included the 1993 Heartland Commercial Contractor of the Year and multiple Norandex Reynolds honors. Taylor Commercial also appeared on the Inc. 5000 list in 2013, ranked #1402 among the fastest-growing private companies.
Beyond profit, Perry invested in impact. Taylor Commercial donated all concrete materials for the Johns Creek Vietnam Memorial in 2019, honoring veterans and contributing to the local community and also to many other civic events and organizations.
Family, Faith, and an Evolving Mission
Perry and Marjorie Taylor raised three children‒Lauren, Taylor, and Derek‒each forging their own academic and professional paths. Taylor made a name for herself as a standout softball player, earning All-ACC honors at UNC and graduating with a degree in Economics. Lauren, growing up, attended surf camp in Maui each summer and eventually became an instructor and then earned her degree from Kennesaw University in Creative Media. Derek is a fiancé major at Ole Miss.
Behind the scenes, Perry played a vital role in helping Marjorie launch and eventually win her congressional seat in 2020. Although divorced in December 2022, they remain proud co-parents and continue supporting their children’s success and future.
Perry is currently revisiting a 100-goal list that he made in 2004, most of which he checked off by 2022. He is also reviving a long-outlined book for homeowners dealing with contractors, drawing from decades of experience.
The Art of Giving Back
Perry’s creativity has consistently set him apart in the business world. But his work hasn’t been limited to profits.
He’s donated time and resources to North Fulton Charities, the Northwest Georgia Housing Authority’s children’s holiday drives, and various local church initiatives. His business success has often intersected with a personal commitment to community service. And also has mentored many people along the way.
A Life Well Built
When he’s not managing teams or closing deals, Perry enjoys coaching, boating, CrossFit, investing in Real Estate, and exploring the world. He spent a month in Italy in 2023 and in France in 2024, with another trip in 2025 and also London. Currently planning a trip to Australia.
For 17 years, Christmas meant two weeks in Hawaii or Costa Rica with his family‒a tradition that helped forge strong, lifelong bonds.
These days, Perry Greene still finds joy in simple things: cooking a good meal, sharing a bottle of red wine or Champagne, and enjoying time with his children and partner, Misty.
